How to Create a Square or Rectangle in Lightburn

Squares and rectangles are such an integral part of many laser designs and projects. Lightburn software makes it super easy to create these shapes. So let’s take a look at how to do this.

Create a Square

To create a square in Lightburn, click on the Square Tool and then just click on your screen.

You can form a square any size or shape you like just by clicking and dragging.

As you move the mouse around you may find that you may end up with a wonky square, so to create a perfect square, hold the Shift Key down while you draw your rectangle.

Doing this will give you a perfect square.

You can also set a specific height and width by coming up to the height and width boxes on the menu bar and entering your height and width.

Just make sure you uncheck the lock if you want the height and width to be changed independently of each other.

Now if you hold your cursor over the square tool you’ll notice it also gives you the option to use the control or command key to drag and create a square from the center.

When you hold down the Command Key and click and drag you’ll notice that the software draws the square from the center out instead of from the top corner.

Create a Rectangle

Creating a rectangle in Lightburn is the same process as creating a rectangle. However, we will go through the steps once again.

Click on the Square Tool and then click on your screen.

You can form a rectangle any size you like by just clicking and dragging.

You can also set a specific height and width by coming up to the height and width boxes on the menu bar and entering your height and width.

Just make sure you uncheck the lock if you want the height and width to be changed independently of each other.

Now if you hold your cursor over the square/rectangle tool it gives you the option to use the control or command key to drag and create a rectangle from the center.

So when you hold down the Command Key and click and drag you’ll notice that it now draws the rectangle from the center instead of the top corner.
